Photo : CollectedDHAKA, March 26, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh High Commission in Port Louis today celebrated the country's 55th Independence and National Day with due dignity, highlighting strong bilateral ties and Bangladesh's economic progress. The High Commission hosted a reception at the Islamic Cultural Centre in Port Louis, attended by President of Mauritius Dharambeer Gokhool as the chief guest, along with senior government leaders and members of the diplomatic corps. In his remarks, he highlighted Bangladesh's strong economic growth, noting the establishment of over 100 economic zones and opportunities for foreign investment, including in tourism projects such as Sabrang in Cox's Bazar. The event was attended by ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, business leaders and members of the Bangladeshi community. The day's programme began with the hoisting of the national flag at Bangladesh House.
