Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the new scheme will help boost 129,000 pubs and restaurants who are struggling to recover from the coronavirus lockdown. But if they visited three different restaurants and spent £10 at each place, they'd only be charged £15 - a saving of £5. One person tweeted: "Rishi Sunak well done the new British pub crawl is the Great British Restaurant crawl!' Different restaurant for each course." Rishi Sunak also announced that VAT will drop from 20% to 5% from July 15 until January 12, 2021, meaning food and booze will, in theory, be cheaper for six months.
