Attorney General William Barr on Monday again slapped down claims of widespread election fraud pushed by President Donald Trump, rejecting the president’s reported push to appoint a special counsel to investigate the non-issue. Nearly seven weeks after Election Day, Trump still refuses to concede the election to President-elect Joe Biden. The president also discussed the idea of appointing attorney Sidney Powell as a special counsel to investigate election fraud. “If I thought a special counsel at this stage was the right tool and it was appropriate, I would name one,” he said. But Barr said Monday that he has no plan to appoint a special counsel to look at Hunter Biden’s actions either.
