Evarist Bartolo has called for more concrete engagement by the EU in supporting the economic recovery of its southern neighbours, including Libya. “Supporting the economic recovery of the region should not be underestimated,” Bartolo told a meeting of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council. The European Affairs Minister welcomed the recent communication by the European Commission on the bloc’s southern neighbourhood, which outlined an investment plan. “The challenges are not small, but the EU needs to step up,” Bartolo said. In the margins of the Council meeting, Malta and Slovakia signed an agreement on the Mutual Protection of Classified Information.
