KOTA KINABALU: An 86-year-old man's hobby of weaving traditional Rungus baskets known as "barazit" and "saging" has created buzz on social media after his children shared photos of them online. Mongijal’s other daughter, 29-year-old Celia Mongikal said her father only made the baskets as a hobby, was surprised by the overwhelming response from net users. Those living around his village have also gone to his stall to buy from him while many placed advanced orders. He said that Mongijal woke up before 6am on Sunday (May 23) and was already at his stall, waiting for customers. He said the art of weaving these baskets is something that should be preserved and reintroduced to the younger generations.
