The woman whose hands were chopped off by her husband will receive Sh30,000 monthly, for a year, from the Machakos government. Governor Alfred Mutua's wife Lilian Ng'ang'a said Jackline Mwende, 27, will also get free medical care, including counseling, until she recovers fully. Mwende said she was surprised by the attack, as doctors told the couple she was fertile while Ngila was impotent. She said the Machakos government offer the support for more than a year based on a review of the woman's condition. Ng'ang'a was with woman representatives Susan Musyoka (Machakos), Mary Seneta (Kajiado), Joyce Lay (Taita Taveta), Florence Kajuju (Meru) and Rose Museo (Makueni).
