Here’s a question: Would you rather have Jose Bautista in a leadership position or the missionary position? Just recently, Baltimore GM Dan Duquette revisited his off-season flick-off of Bautista as a free agent whom the Orioles fan-base would find indigestible. We play those guys 25 times a year and he’s the face of the Blue Jays. If anything, Bautista thrives on being the villain of the piece, though he usually brushes off the characterization, albeit with appropriate disdain. For a variety of reasons, it says here, Bautista is still the straw that stirs the drink and the emotional lodestone on this team.
