It cuts through a pretty wooded gorge formed by glacial meltwater – hence one of its Welsh names Nant y Dilyw (Valley of the Deluge). ‌Another name is Nant y Pandy (Valley of the Fulling Mill, which refers to the old wool processing plant on the Afon Cefni. ‌Vandalism has long blighted the reserve, which is managed by Anglesey Council.
