Not every picture at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe happens in front of you. Sometimes you have to build them piece by piece. I like this picture because it started from nothing and by collaborating with the artists, their agents and the venue, we made a picture with colour and energy. The performers are a 1980s-inspired acapella group called Magnets, and they are on the floor of the Atik nightclub, which was used in Danny Boyle’s recent sequel to Trainspotting. I was hanging over the singers at the top of a ladder, shooting with my 11-24mm lens at around 20mm to get this picture.
