The open field of Dampara and Akashi villages of Tangail’s Madhupur Upazila continued a trend of the last ten years by arranging the traditional horse racing contest on Saturday amid the winter festival. Horsemen from several parts of the country, including Tangail, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Bogra, Sirajganj and Rajshahi, participated in the contest. Thousands of people gathered in the field to witness the captivating horse race. Former food minister and Awami League presidium member Dr Abdur Razzak inaugurated the contest, organized by a local club, Akashi Bangabandhu Club. Chairman of Walton Hi-tech Industries Limited SM Nurul Alam Rezvi, and president of Madhpur Upazila Awami League and panel chairman of Tangail Zila Parishad Shafi Uddin Moni were present among others.
