Mass protests over the official presidential election results have lasted nine straight days. Last week, riot police dispersed a peaceful protest with rubber bullets, tear gas, clubs, and stun grenades. THOUSANDS OF PROTESTERS DON'T BUY ELECTION RESULTSThe official results of the election gave Lukashenko 80% of the votes and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leading opposition candidate in the election, only 10%. Tsikhanouskaya has cited reports from precincts around the country that showed her winning 60%-70% of the vote. Her husband, an opposition blogger, has been jailed since May, and she had replaced him on the ballot.
