Beleaguered UCP MLA Derek Fildebrandt facing 2016 hit-and-run charge

MLA says he repaid rent collectedBut as the bonfire began to singe the entire party, Fildebrandt issued a mea culpa, said he would send a cheque in the amount of $2,555, the money he earned from the sublets, to the province. Before the Wildrose Party merged with the Progressive Conservatives to create the United Conservative Party, there were 22 Wildrose MLAs, including Fildebrandt. The prosecutor pointed out Fildebrandt had six months to prepare for the trial, and clearly did not. But the commissioner acceded to the MLA's request and adjourned the trial until Sept. 6, when Fildebrandt is expected to present his evidence.
