Benishangul Gumuz Requests More Federal Troops as Death Toll Reaches 44By Staff ReporterOctober 2, 2018 - Armed gangsters have continued to attack innocent people in different parts of Benishangul Gumuz regional state of Ethiopia, so far killing at least 44 people and displacing tens of thousands, a senior Ethiopian official said on Tuesday. According to the local government, the attacks are coming from across the border from Oromia regional state. According to Zelalem, the attackers have caused serious damages in Anger Miti, Anger Shenkora, Saidalicha, Tenkara and Kutameri localities of Ganfoy and Yaso district of Kemashi zone of the regional state bordering Oromia state. The communication head said the number of displaced people could be much higher including those people largely ethnic Gumuz who fled into jungles. The attacks and violence erupted after four senior officials of the Benishangul Gumuz regional state were gunned down in ambush last Thursday in Oromia regional state, the official claimed.
