Bethany Shriever won Great Britain’s sixth gold medal of the 2020 Olympics, as Team GB claimed half a dozen medals this morning on the BMX track, the trampoline and in the pool. Kye Whyte claimed silver in a superb morning on the BMX track. Shriever, 22, who has worked part-time as a teaching assistant to cover the costs of her training and travelling, was considered an outsider but looked the best of the field in every round, with her fast start powering her clear to victory in all three runs of her semi-final. SponsoredShe got away quickly in the final but had to hold off a fierce challenge from Colombia’s Mariana Pajon, the two-time defending champion, pipping her by 0.09 seconds on the finish line.
