Medicare Advantage plans now have 29 million enrollees, or 48% of seniors, with numbers expected to continually grow. On the other hand, Medicare Advantage plans are riddled with fraud. Higher Medicare payments per Medicare Advantage enrollee increased total Medicare spending by an estimated $7 billion in 2019. Between 2021 and 2029, federal spending on payments to Medicare Advantage plans is projected to increase by $316 billion, from $348 billion to $664 billion. By ending the HRA plan I had in 2022 and offering only a Medicare Advantage plan, the company is only considering the financial benefits to them without looking at the larger ramifications.
