WILMINGTON: Joe Biden promised on Thursday (Friday in Manila) to end the “darkness” of Donald Trump’s presidency in a speech accepting the Democratic nomination with an impassioned call for unity and a return to optimism. “The current president has cloaked America in darkness for much too long. Too much anger, too much fear, too much division,” Biden said. The night’s keynote address was the speech of a lifetime for Biden, who at 77 would be the oldest president ever elected. Cory Booker, only the ninth African American senator in US history, said Biden believes in the dignity of all working Americans.
