Malacañang on Thursday hinted of “major changes” in the government’s coronavirus response strategy starting August 1. Palace spokesman Harry Roque Jr., however, refused to disclose details of the plan, saying he did not want to preempt the President. “In our next phase of our national action plan, we will allow local governments to play a bigger role. On Monday Roque announced that Metro Manila would be a “living experiment” in the “invigorated” government response to the pandemic beginning next month. The latest figures came after 1,874 more people were confirmed to have caught the deadly respiratory disease, the Department of Health (DoH) said on Wednesday.
