Critics of Judge Amy Coney Barrett are framing their skepticism with a noble-sounding pretext: Judges shouldn’t bring their personal views into the courtroom. In early 2019 I was a judge on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, running in a statewide election for a seat on the Supreme Court. For several years, I’ve had the privilege of addressing Christian law students who participate in a fellowship sponsored by Alliance Defending Freedom, one of the leading First Amendment public-interest groups in the country. By any objective measure, Judge Amy Coney Barrett is an outstanding nominee. Justice Hagedorn is a member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
