The Nigeria senior national rugby team arrived in Abidjan yesterday for the Africa Men’s Regional tournament slated to hold in the Cote d’Ivoire capital this weekend. According to the NRFF, the team, which has gone through rigorous training ahead of the competition, is poised to give all it takes to win the event. The new national team coach, Bronson Weir, who chose 17 home-based and three from foreign clubs for the Africa championship, is optimistic that the Black Stallions would pull a surprise in the event after just returning from Rugby Africa’s suspension. Black Stallions’ Technical Director, Ntiense Williams, who is a member of the delegation to Abidjan, told The Guardian that the players were ready for the games this weekend. According to Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) president, Kelechukwu Mbagwu, the body has put all logistics in place to ensure the country gets global reckoning, adding that the NRFF was working to improve the standard of the sport in Nigeria.
