The Blue Jays recalled utility player Andy Burns and plan on using him as a multi-position capable player heading into the all-star break. “You can play him anywhere and he’s a good runner, too,” Jays manager John Gibbons said. Burns also logged six stolen bases, fourth on the team behind Junior Lake (nine), Darrell Ceciliani (seven), and Dalton Pompey with 10. Pompey has been sidelined for almost a month with a concussion. “He’s been up a couple of times, he’s still looking for that first knock (base hit), but we can play him anywhere, so there’s options there you can use.”Burns has appeared in eight major-league games this season, and in 70 games with Triple-A Buffalo was hitting .238 with a .294 on-base percentage.
