Blue Jays rookie starter Trent Thornton was right there in a pitching duel with Cleveland’s Shane Bieber. That was the good news in another game where the Blue Jays’ offence was almost nonexistent. Toronto managed just three hits — giving them 51 through nine games, a franchise worst over that span — in a 3-2 loss to the Indians at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Friday night. Joe Biagini, who had been solid out of the bullpen, got a pitch up on Cleveland’s Carlos Santana in the ninth and the veteran walked it off with a solo homer.
