By GAIL OBER, LACONIA DAILY SUNGILFORD — With Wednesday's adoption of the police department's operating procedures for body cameras, as of Monday morning all members of the department will be wearing them. With their acquisition, Gilford becomes the second Belknap County Police Department after Tilton to wear them. "Body cameras are part of our official uniform," said Lt. James Leach on Thursday. The TASER International Axon Flex body cameras come with two modes, according to the approved operating procedures. Body cameras automatically enter "event mode" when an officer activates his or her lights in a police cruiser and can only be shut off by a deliberation action of the officer.
