A FedEx Express cargo plane has crash-landed at Istanbul airport after its front landing gear failed to open. The Boeing 767 had to stage the emergency landing on Wednesday morning under guidance from air traffic control. The runway where the cargo plane landed has been temporarily closed to air traffic, although other runways have operated without interruption, according to airport operator IGA. The following year, on March 10, 2019, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed on land, killing all 157 passengers and crew. Also in March, a Safe Air Company cargo flight experienced technical problems before it collided with another plane on the runway.
