In the aftermath of the Ethiopian tragedy and the subsequent 737 MAX grounding, this would appear to add to Boeing’s woes. In the first three months of the year, Boeing netted a mere 29 single-aisle orders. New generation single-aisle jets, distinguished by their CFM Leap or Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan engines, and other features, represent the mother of all front-loaded markets. Between 2011 and 2018, an amazing total of 15,205 single-aisle orders were placed. But the reality is that China represents the greatest source of unplaced next generation single-aisle jetliner demand.
