Illyanna Maisonet, a Puerto Rican food writer, posted excerpts from a text exchange with Mr. Rapoport that she said was condescending, after an editor rejected her idea for an article about Puerto Rican food. “I do not know why Adam Rapoport simply doesn’t write about Puerto Rican food for @bonappetit himself!! In recent months, Mr. Rapoport and other managers had agreed to work harder on diversity issues, but staff members said those efforts fell short. The wildly successful Bon Appétit videos are overseen by a separate entity called Condé Nast Entertainment, and the pay structure for its talent is different than that for the magazine.
