Parasite also took home the Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Foreign Language awards. Bong Joon-ho’s earlier films Snowpiercer, Okja, and The Host trended on Twitter after the awards were announced. Meanwhile, it was tipped to win the coveted best picture award after it took home the SAG award for Outstanding Performance In A Cast, a prize which is often a precursor to Oscars success. Deadline estimates that the film could become the fourth-highest grossing foreign-language film in the U.S., after Crouching Tiger, Life Is Beautiful and Hero, while it calculates that Best Picture winners usually see an average 17% boost in viewings.
