New coach, new style, change of fortune. Last season Edinburgh managed only two four-try bonus points all campaign; in Duncan Hodge’s first proper match since taking over, not only did they get the four tries but they managed the feat in 31 minutes and finished with seven. What a turnaround. They will face much stiffer tests this season. To put it kindly, Treviso were awful, slipping tackles and, though they did show some neat offloading touches in attack, they never had the measure of the Edinburgh defence which was hitting them with the vigour that has been missing all season.
