According to data obtained by The Associated Press, there were 15 instances in which officers and agents used firearms during the budget year 2018. Border Patrol agents now undergo scenario-based drills at the academy and learn how to de-escalate tense situations. The boards determine whether an officer or agent used force correctly or whether it was out of policy.
