Tonight's announcement comes after the government came under furious attack for its handling of Leicester's local lockdown. Health Secretary Matt Hancock first admitted there was a problem in the city more than 10 days after the local lockdown was imposed. For much of the time, 'Pillar 2' testing data - which shows result from drive-through centres and home testing kits - was missing from official figures. It added other steps in the process had to be tried first before a full local lockdown. Mr Johnson today urged the nation to "enjoy summer safely" as venues across England reopen tomorrow.
