I attended a Safe Ireland summit a few years ago. It was at this event that I first heard someone speak about the financial and economic cost of domestic abuse, or intimate partner abuse as some prefer to call it. I had never considered it before, but the statistics are clear: domestic violence is expensive. In 2019 Forbes magazine reported that victims’ “disrupted ability to work” contributed to the estimated €3.6 trillion cost of domestic abuse in America.
