Six years later, with the filmmaker again lamenting what could have been, is it any safer for a big-budget R-rated horror movie from the guy who made Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth? And yeah, Logan, a grim, somber, ultraviolent western disguised as a comic book sequel made $600 million+ worldwide. Whether or not the moviegoing marketplace is safe for a $150 million, R-rated, H.P. Lovecraft is not exactly mainstream horror material for general audiences, and you really would need the film to become one of the biggest R-rated horror movies ever to be a hit.
