MELAKA: A six-year-old boy who was admitted to the Melaka Hospital on Wednesday with suspected rabies is awaiting test results to determine whether or not he has been infected by the virus. State Health Department director Dr Ghazali Othman revealed that the boy, who was admitted for an upper respiratory tract infection, was bitten by a dog in June. "He was referred to the Melaka Hospital by the Military Hospital Trendak Camp," Dr Ghazali said when contacted. The boy is currently in stable condition and will be placed under observation pending the test results. Dr Ghazali stressed to the people of Melaka that there is no cause for panic.
