A Syrian teenager who won £100,000 in damages from the far-right figurehead Tommy Robinson has vowed to use the money to start a charity for young people. Jamal Hijazi was 15 when video of a fellow schoolboy attacking him in Huddersfield was widely shared online in 2018. SponsoredThe clip showed Hijazi, a refugee from Homs in Syria, with his arm in a cast being forced to the ground by his neck. His attacker poured water on his face and threatened to drown him while other pupils watched on. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, made a Facebook video viewed by nearly a million people in which he falsely claimed that Jamal had attacked young English girls at school.
