More than 20 people were injured when the Travlon bus collided with a car on State Highway 75 near the Hilltop Tavern, before leaving the road. Another Travlon bus crashed in the Otira Gorge, near Arthur's Pass, on December 31, 2015, after the brakes failed. James Henry Coakley, a mechanic contracted by Travlon Coachlines, has pleaded not guilty to injuring by unlawful act in relation to the Otira crash.
