Gatherings of the fully vaccinated apparently aren’t safe, as Omicron’s transmissibility caused an unprecedented number of breakthrough infections, even if they were mild enough to be treated at home. Lastly, we now hear views about this being the last stretch of the pandemic. Making vaccines work in the school environment should also be given attention with youngsters aged 12 to 19 now allowed to be vaccinated. We must do better at making the new normal work for us, instead of being confined and restricted by it. The pandemic has showed us that people with co-morbidities, and those with health conditions arising from unhealthy lifestyles, are most vulnerable to the virus attacks even when fully vaccinated.
