Breckland District Council has warned it is planning to raise Council Tax by the nearly the maximum amount possible for some properties without holding a referendum. In a new draft budget, the authority said it was looking to raise Council Tax for Band D properties by £4.95. Breckland Council. Elsewhere in the proposal, Breckland put off implementing a 100 per cent Council Tax premium on second homes initially approved last year. Cllr Phil Cowen, Breckland Council executive member for finance, revenue and benefits, said “Breckland Council is proposing a balanced budget that protects core services while continuing to support the wide range of discretionary services provided to residents, communities and businesses.
