Bridge re-installed following successful repair

A Grade II-listed cast iron footbridge which was taken away for repair has been re-installed. The Kingsweston Iron Bridge, which links the Blaise Castle estate and Kingsweston Fields in Bristol, was craned back into place on Tuesday. Bristol City Council closed the "unsafe and unstable" bridge in 2015 after it sustained damage to the east underside from being hit by a truck. A council spokesperson said it was aiming to reopen the bridge in its new raised position in July. Repair work began in November when heritage-accredited contractors dismantled the bridge.
