Bukit Aman to probe police extortion case - Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will conduct a thorough investigation on eight policemen suspected of extortion. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim (pic) said Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) is currently investigating the matter. It was reported that about RM18,000 was found under a desk belonging to rank and file traffic policemen from the Ampang Jaya district. "We believe the money was obtained from extorting foreigners," Noor Rashid said following a handing over of duties ceremony in Bukit Aman on Friday. He said that while the suspects are under investigation, they have been allowed to resume their duties.
