It has been a strong season by Bundesliga clubs in European competitions this season. In the Champions League Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke qualified for the round of 16. Overall only Hoffenheim (Champions League) and RB Leipzig (Europa League) disappointed by bowing out before the winter break. The tasks are a bit more simple for the Europa League teams. The winner of the Europa League automatically qualifies for the UEFA Champions League.
