Buzeki is vying for governor as an independent candidate against the incumbent Jackson Mandago. The battle has caused tension in the region, with Mandago’s supporters demanding Buzeki pull out after losing during the Jubilee Party primaries. Uhuru is expected to meet Buzeki and Mandago to quell tension that could lead to tribal animosity in the region. “We expect Uhuru and Ruto to ensure they ask Buzeki to step down and back Mandago,” Mandago’s campaign officer, Joseph Chumba, said. He told Mandago to stop fighting independents.
