Middle-class tax payers in the state of California are getting a much-needed tax break starting on Friday. Millions of them are set to get relief payments that will go up to $1,050 as part of a program known as the Middle Class Tax Refund. It has been estimated that about 18 million payments will be distributed through January 15, these payments are set to reach about 23 million California residents. There are about two thirds of American states that are adopting this tax refund practice in 2022 alone. Determining how much money Californians will get in tax refunds as part of the Middle Class Tax Refund program is based on 2020 state income tax returns.
