CBC is warning of an email scam in which someone impersonating a CBC journalist is pitching people on an interview and then asking them to pay to promote it. "These are not CBC employees and CBC does not ask for money, including bank transfers or online payments, in interview requests." Those benefits, according to the email, included "audience exposure," "extended visibility" and "professional media recognition." The Help Centre noted that people impersonating CBC staff have been emailing companies and groups seeking free tickets to events.
