CBI on Rs 500cr ponzi trail

New Delhi, June 28: The CBI has taken over the probe into a Rs 500-crore online ponzi scam allegedly involving a Ghaziabad-based company. Sources in the agency said actors Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who endorsed Webwork Trade Links's portal addsbook.com, are among those named in the complaint. However, neither the CBI nor Uttar Pradesh police, which had been probing the case, named them as accused in the FIR. On the directive of Allahabad High Court, the CBI has taken over the investigation and an FIR has been registered against Jain and Verma, the spokesperson said. According to the complaint, Webwork Trade Links launched a shadow company, Addsbook Marketing Pvt, on December 10, 2016, with Shah Rukh and Nawazuddin as brand ambassadors.
