Hot on the heels of the formation of the Jubilee Party by the government comes the Opposition’s response: The National Super Alliance (Nasa). But just as the formation of the Jubilee Party has the potential to exacerbate the government’s stranglehold on power, Nasa could breathe fresh life into the Opposition. Every one of the “Pentagon” leaders had left to either join the Jubilee Alliance or contest for power on another ticket. At present, there are at least three alliance leaders with presidential ambitions. As an opposition coalition, it naturally has less to offer in the way of government posts — for now at least.
