CID files case against 38 over the death of 26 Bangladeshi migrants in Libya

At the same time, eight to 10 unnamed others have been also been included in the case filed under the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act with Paltan police station in Dhaka on Tuesday night. “We don’t know if CID has arrested anybody in connection with the incident so far,” Paltan police station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddique said while talking to Dhaka Tribune. On May 28, at total of 26 Bangladesh citizens were killed and 11 others were injured in a gun attack by some human traffickers in the desert town of Mizdah, some 180km from Tripoli, the capital of Libya. Bangladesh did reach out to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to bring back the bodies home and sought compensation for their families. The Bangladesh government also sought information on the human traffickers and demanded punishment of those involved in human trafficking and killing after their arrest.
