CJN swears in 18 new Appeal Court judges Monday

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, will on Monday swear in 18 judges who have just been elevated to the Court of Appeal. This was disclosed in a letter signed by the Chief Registrar, Hadizatu Mustapha, and addressed to the Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Salisu Garba. “The CJN invites your lordship to the swearing in ceremony of the following Justices of the Court of Appeal Abuja on Monday, June 28, 2021, by 10am at the Main Court Room of the Supreme Court of Nigeria,” it read. The judges to be sworn in are Mohammed Danjuma (Niger State), Muhammad Sirajo (Plateau), Abdul-Azeez Waziri (Adamawa), Yusuf Bashir (Taraba), Usman Musale (Yobe), Ibrahim Jauro (Yobe) and Abba Mohammed (Kano State). Recall that The PUNCH had earlier reported that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday had struck out a suit challenging the alleged marginalisation of South-East judges in the appointment of justices of the Court of Appeal.
