For a second year, CNN saluted the annual Juneteenth holiday by presenting “Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom.” Airing on both CNN and OWN, the live concert telecast was staged at Los Angeles venue the Greek Theatre and boasted an array of music stars and presenters. The performer lineup included Charlie Wilson, Nelly, Miguel, Kirk Franklin, SWV, Chlöe Bailey, Coi Leray, Jodeci, Davido, Big Freedia and saxophonist Mike Phillips. Opal Lee, “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” and her granddaughter Dione Sims were among the featured pre-show guests.
