Following distinguished careers at CNN, longtime news managers Flora Charner and Mariano Castillo have left the cable network to join the journalism faculty at Texas A&M University. She joined CNN as a producer in Rio de Janeiro in 2015, quickly rising through the ranks at the network’s Atlanta headquarters. Her past experience includes producer roles at Al Jazeera and the Associated Press in Rio de Janeiro. Castillo was most recently Senior Director of News Standards and Practices at CNN, where he worked primarily with CNN en Español and CNN’s primetime shows. He first joined CNN in 2009.
