Addressing the issue on TV3’s Hot Issues on February 2026, Oppong Nkrumah said the Minority caucus confirmed the figure after engagements with the LBCs. We are told about GH¢10 billion worth of cocoa have been taken up by the LBCs and they can’t pay for it. However, Oppong Nkrumah described the payments as “a drop in the ocean” when compared to the total amount owed. “If you owe GH¢10bn and you make an announcement that you have paid GH¢1.2bn, it is a drop in the ocean,” he said. Oppong Nkrumah also urged the government to clarify the exact amount owed and to outline a concrete strategy for completing the payments.
