The current climate change summit COP28 has been highlighted as an opportunity for the UK government to show a “real commitment to action”. Adrian Ramsay, co-leader of the Green Party and a confirmed parliamentary candidate for the new Waveney Valley seat, said the summit presented a prime opportunity for the UK to set out its ambitions to end climate change. “Residents of Norfolk and Suffolk have experienced flooding in recent weeks, including in parts of the Waveney Valley constituency,” said the Norfolk native (pictured). “It’s vital that there is real commitment to action at these talks,” he said. It has also urged the UK government to tax persistent polluters more heavily, creating a fund to finance action in the poorest countries which suffer the most from the impact of climate change.
